Five reasons to choose PHPRunner
PHPRunner and Scriptcase can both create forms, grids, reports, dashboards and secure web applications around relational databases. If both products support your database, the useful question is what makes the PHPRunner development workflow different.
PHPRunner gives you direct visual control over complete application pages, builds ordinary pages around external APIs and custom data, includes additional enterprise authentication providers, provides a full year of email support, and offers SQL Server and Oracle support at a lower license and renewal cost.

Quick answer: Choose PHPRunner when you want to design application pages visually, build around external APIs or custom data, use built-in Azure AD, Okta, SAML or OpenID authentication, receive a full year of email support, or work with SQL Server and Oracle at a lower license and renewal cost.
PHPRunner's Page Designer lets you work directly with List, Add, Edit, View, Search and other pages. You can move fields and buttons, add text or code snippets, create tabs and sections, change the grid, and adjust individual element properties while seeing the page structure you are creating.
Scriptcase provides visual settings for fields, blocks, columns and tabs. For a layout that goes beyond those settings, its documentation uses HTML Templates with field placeholders. PHPRunner gives developers more direct visual control before custom HTML becomes necessary.
Why this matters: interface work stays visible in the project. A developer can shape a page around the user's task without turning a routine layout change into an HTML-template assignment.
PHPRunner Enterprise can create REST API connections and REST Views. After mapping an API response to fields, the developer can build familiar List, View, Add and Edit pages around that data. Authentication options include API keys, Basic HTTP, OAuth 2.0 and custom methods.
Code Views can also supply application data through custom code, such as an array, a file listing or another source that is not a conventional database table, while retaining familiar features such as search, filters and pagination.
Scriptcase provides API profiles and macros for integrating external services. Its current documentation does not describe equivalent configurable REST-backed or code-backed data-source objects. Those integrations may still be developed with custom code, but PHPRunner brings them into its normal page-building workflow.
Why this matters: an API or custom dataset can become part of the application instead of every screen around that data beginning as a separate custom integration.
Both products support LDAP and Active Directory, so those are not differentiators. PHPRunner Enterprise additionally provides built-in authentication options for Azure AD, Okta, SAML and OpenID.
Scriptcase's current security documentation describes LDAP, Active Directory and social authentication. We found no documented built-in equivalents for Azure AD, Okta, SAML or general OpenID authentication. This does not mean they are impossible to implement through custom integration.
Why this matters: organizations using one of these identity providers can configure the supported sign-in method in PHPRunner instead of beginning with a custom authentication project.
A PHPRunner purchase includes one year of email support and free upgrades for one year. Customers can ask product questions throughout the first full year of development and receive new releases issued during that period.
Scriptcase's current pricing page includes 15 days of ticket support with a new license. Six-month and annual technical-support plans are sold separately.
Why this matters: the first year usually includes evaluation, initial development, deployment and refinement. PHPRunner includes email support across that complete period.
PHPRunner Professional is currently listed at $599 and supports Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle as well as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Access, DB2, Informix, SQLite and ODBC-compatible databases.
Scriptcase reserves SQL Server and Oracle for its Enterprise edition. On 21 October 2026, its single-developer lifetime Enterprise license was listed at about $1,550 during a 20% promotion. Its documentation prices an on-time annual upgrade renewal at 40% of the current perpetual-license price.
At current prices, PHPRunner Professional plus the following year’s $249 maintenance renewal is about $850 over two years. Scriptcase Enterprise plus one on-time upgrade renewal is about $2,200 over two years during the current promotion. That is a difference of about $1,350 before separately priced Scriptcase support.
Why this matters: a single developer building against SQL Server or Oracle can purchase and maintain PHPRunner Professional without moving to the highest-priced edition. This is a specific single-developer, lifetime-license comparison; prices and promotions can change.
Choose PHPRunner for the combination of page-level visual design, REST-backed and code-backed data sources, built-in Azure AD, Okta, SAML and OpenID authentication, twelve months of included email support, and lower licensing costs for a SQL Server or Oracle project.
